Why is it important to have a gender specific brace?
Studies have shown that females are at a higher risk for certain knee ligament injuries compared to males.*
One of the most common knee ligament injuries is an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. Research has found that females are 2-4x more likely to experience an ACL injury compared to males. This is believed to be due to a combination of anatomical, hormonal, and neuromuscular factors.
For example, females tend to have a wider pelvis than males, which can result in a greater inward angle of the knee joint, known as the Q angle.
A higher Q angle can place more stress on the knee joint and increase the risk of ACL injury. Additionally, hormonal factors, such as the menstrual cycle, may affect ligament laxity and increase the risk of injury during certain times of the month.
The Women's Fusion Knee Brace is designed to better fit the shape of a woman's leg, with a narrower fit at the knee and a wider fit at the thigh and accommodates the shorter femur length in women.
What is a "knee ligament" brace?
A knee ligament brace is a type of knee brace designed to provide support and protection to the ligaments of the knee.
The knee joint
is stabilized by four ligaments: the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), medial collateral ligament (MCL), and lateral collateral ligament (LCL).
Knee ligament braces are recommended for people who have suffered an injury to one or more of these ligaments or have a history of ligament injuries. They can also

Is this brace covered by insurance?
It is best to call your insurance carrier directly and ask. You can give them the HCPCS codes above which should help them narrow down the search and give you a faster answer.
How tight should your brace be?
Snug but night overly tight. You do not want to cut off circulation. Additionally, the brace should not slide down your leg.
What size is right for me?
Please see size chart and sizing video. If those two resources do not give you 100% confidence, have your orthopedic surgeon or physical therapist fit you for the perfect fit brace for you.
How long should I wear my brace and should I wear it while sleeping? Is it okay to wear all day?
Depends. Ask your physician about your protocol. Most physicians advocate for several hours on and some time off. If your injury is severe, your physician might want you in the brace for long stretches of time initially. While sleeping: Generally, physicians do not recommend wearing while in bed but your situation my be different.
Does wearing the brace help with arthritis?
Generally, no. It is not an "OA" brace. It is designed to provide stability for ligamentous injuries.

EXCHANGES
Orders made by mistake (i.e. a left instead of a right, medium instead of a large, Breg Polar Care Cube pad vs. Breg Kodiak Pad, etc.) are eligible for an exchange if the incorrect size or item was ordered.
All items must be in
NEW condition to be exchanged (they cannot be used; plastic bag must be sealed for all cold therapy pads).There is no restocking fee but a return shipping fee will apply if OrthoBracing.com is asked to send a return label. RETURNS
To qualify for a return/refund, product(s) must be in the original, UNOPENED, manufacturer's packaging. We cannot accept opened packages, with no exceptions. In the case that a product is sent back to us opened, the possibility of a refund will be void. Orthobracing.com places a label on certain items that are not in sealed packages by the manufacturer for the safety of our customers. Returned items with this label must be intact (not cut) to receive a refund. If this label has been removed or tampered with, the possibility of a refund will be void.
Returns are accepted if returned within 14-days of delivery, are in NEW / UNUSED condition, are in their original packaging with documentation and the blue security tape is still 100% intact. If all conditions are met, a 25% restocking fee will apply.
A restocking fee will apply on all returns, with no exceptions.
Because cold therapy products come in contact with incisions after orthopedic surgery and use municipal water, we have to make the assumption that once they leave our facility they have been used. We cannot, in good faith, ship this type of merchandise to another patient and have them bear the increased risk of getting an infection. For you as a customer, we want you to know that all cold therapy products coming from our warehouse have not been used by another customer in any manner.
All sales final on cold therapy products. Cold therapy machines and pads are not returnable, if there is an issue with performance of your products, you are eligible for a warranty replacement.

Great Machine
This machine was so helpful in reducing swelling and pain in my arm and shoulder. The water temperature was comfortable which allowed me to sustain several hours of cold therapy each day. Thank you for the Kodiak and your many helpful suggestions. Highly recommended 👍
The replacement works as expected. It was great to be able to have a replacement vs buying a new unit. When I had difficulty checking out, the team was very helpful and got my order out quickly.
Great unit for price although wrap needs better posterior coverage
Compression and ice so much better than ice alone! Would rate at 4.5 overall if available as mostly a great machine with a few areas of potential improvement in the wrap. I had recent TKR and have a history of swelling (thus more pressure & pain) and this unit really helps. I rented GameReady™ uber expensive machine (purchase cost~$3200-3500) x 3 weeks starting immediately post op (professional athletes and stars use) and their knee wrap provided full circumferential coverage due to longer length and width. I realize it is unfair to compare machines with a 9-10 fold price difference, however I do so to report that the ortho brace cold/compression therapy unit was better than I expected and I am glad I purchased it.
After an adult lifetime of bilateral knee pain and several knee surgeries, I have used 3 other ice machines and the compression makes a huge difference to relieve my swelling and pain.
There are 2 Orthobrace wrap sizes (same cost) and I ordered the standard one it does not provide any cold therapy behind my knee. I'm considering ordering the larger wrap (as I need another knee replacement) and from personal experience replacement wraps are harder to purchase the longer you wait as models may change.
Other concern is velcro wrap is making the wrap more fuzzy so velcro doesn't adhere as well and my thigh strap tends to want to lift and not provide compression as well so I use an ace bandage to secure (a bit of inconvenient). GameReady machine has a much sturdier attachment for velcro and did not have same problem after 24/67 use. I still use Orthobrace machine many hours per day.
In the course of my daily life, my DME tends to get a real workout. (replacements, reorders, etc.)

I’ve used twice for my own knee replacements and loaned to a friend. So easy to load and unload with new frozen bottles with no mess. It did great on keeping down swelling. The only thing I saw that would make it flawless would be an on/off switch instead of plugging and unplugging.
I did not order my Breg Compression Wave machine from Orthobracing following my knee replacement surgery and I wish I had. (I ordered from the company suggested by my surgeon) I ended up having conversations with Orthobracing regarding my machine and ordered accessories including ice bags from them. They generally responded within minutes to any of my inquiries and seemed eager to help me in every way. Shipping was quick and ordering was easy. Highly recommend!
I purchased this for use after my knee replacement surgery, and it has been a godsend. It is easy to fill and carry in addition to providing comfort and pain relief while using. It is a definite MUST so don't hesitate to purchase.
Ordered Fusion to replace a worn out Freestyle brace. The Fusion is substantially more durable and the velcro straps are replaceable, which is a plus because the velcro straps on the Freestyle are worn out and no longer hold. Fit wise the Fusion is fairly adjustable and provides more rigid bracing than the Freestyle. Do not have to adjust the Fusion as much as the Freestyle to acheive the same relief for medial OA. If this one ever wears out, I’ll definitely be replacing it w/ another.
Am using it for my second knee replacement. I knew it would work because I borrowed an ice machine for my last operation. That machine no longer works, so I decided to buy this one. Definitely a necessity as I do not take any kind of drugs. A very positive purchase which I will loan to friends and family.
