Before ordering a replacement pad, it is worth understanding why Wave pads are not interchangeable with pads from other Breg systems.
The Polar Care Cube, Glacier, and Cub use WrapOn pads, which are cold-only pads that circulate chilled water without a compression component. These pads use elastic straps and attach to a different cooler connection type.
Wave pads are compression pads built specifically for the Polar Care Wave system. The Wave uses a motorized pump to deliver both cold water circulation and active intermittent compression through the pad simultaneously. The pad fitting, internal construction, and compression channel are designed exclusively for the Wave. Installing a WrapOn pad on a Wave cooler, or a Wave pad on a Cube, will not work. The fittings and internal mechanisms are incompatible.

Standard Knee Pad
The Standard Knee pad fits a thigh circumference of 8 to 27 inches and measures 16" x 12". This configuration is suited for most adult builds and is one of the most commonly ordered Wave pad replacements for post-surgical knee recovery.
Large Knee Pad
The Large Knee pad accommodates a thigh circumference of 16 to 30.5 inches and measures 16" x 17.5", with strap lengths of 14.5" and 11.5". This is the appropriate choice for patients who need more coverage or have a larger build.
Shoulder Pad
The Shoulder pad fits a shoulder circumference of 40 to 50 inches and a bicep circumference of 12 to 20 inches. One size is available for shoulder use. If your measurements fall outside this range, contact our team before ordering to confirm the best option for your situation.
Foot/Ankle Pad
The Foot/Ankle pad accommodates an ankle circumference of 9 to 16 inches and a foot circumference of 7 to 12 inches. This wraps the ankle and foot area for targeted cold and compression during sessions. Patients recovering from ankle surgery, Achilles tendon repair, or foot procedures commonly order this configuration.
Hip Pad
The Hip pad covers the hip joint area and is sized to fit most adult builds. Recovery after hip replacement or labral repair often requires managing a larger surface area, and this pad delivers cold and compression across that broader region.
Back Pad
The Back pad covers the lumbar region and suits patients using the Wave for lower back recovery. Those managing post-surgical lower back pain or ongoing lumbar discomfort can use the same Wave cooler with this configuration.
Universal Pad
The Universal pad is a flexible option that is not contoured for a specific joint. This suits patients managing more than one recovery area or those who prefer a single pad. Patients who rotate the Wave system between joints throughout rehabilitation often find this the most practical choice.
How to Size and Order the Right Wave Pad
Sizing Wave pads correctly before ordering avoids the need for an exchange and makes sure the compression component delivers as intended.
For the knee, measure your thigh circumference and match it to the Standard or Large range. For the shoulder, measure the circumference of the shoulder and bicep and confirm it falls within the 40 to 50 inch shoulder and 12 to 20 inch bicep range.
