Who Is the Breg Polar Care Wave Cold Therapy System Meant For?

If you’re stuck on the couch or in a hospital bed nursing an injury or recovering from surgery, then Breg Polar Care Wave Cold Therapy System is a likely treatment for you. In fact, your physician has probably already suggested icing the area in question. It’s a proven therapy method used by health practitioners the world over.

The Breg Polar Care Wave Cold Therapy System is helpful in all medical settings, from large, busy city hospitals and rehabilitation clinics to small private clinics with just a handful of therapists. But where it really shines is at home. Due to the unit’s ease of use and portable design, it can be carried to and set up almost anywhere–taking Netflix and chill to a whole new level.

Given the pad configurations available with this versatile Breg cold therapy system is best suited to use on the knees or shoulders. Still, patients could adapt it for ankle, foot, hip, or back injuries if needed.

BREG POLAR CARE WAVE: ACCESSORIES

From Breg ice bags (which are much easier to use than ice cubes) to the innovative Y-Adaptor for bilateral total knee replacement surgeries, Breghas you covered when it comes to getting the most out of your new Polar Care Wave.

And while the Polar Care Wave comes with the Breg universal cold compression pad, Breg also offers an entire family of pads to meet individual treatment needs. Depending on your injury’s location, you can get specialized knee, hip, back, and shoulder pads tailored to that body part’s specific contours.

How To Use the Breg Polar Care Wave Cold Therapy System

Any good review of the Breg Polar Care Wave Cold Therapy System wouldn’t be complete without a how-to. Although this machine is so easy to use, it doesn’t need much explanation.

The basic steps are:

• Fill the cooler with ice and water

• Attach the hose to the cooler

• Snap-lock the hose to the compression pad

• Wrap the pad around your body part

• Adjust the level of cold and compression

Once you press start, you’ll feel pressure at regular intervals along with therapeutic cold from the ice water constantly flowing through the pad.

If you’re a visual learner, watch this 10-minute-long video to see the Breg Polar Care Wave in action.

Like most cold therapy units, the Breg Polar Care Wave needs to be plugged into the wall to work. And remember, don’t exceed the recommended time limits for cold therapy from your physician. It could result in tissue damage. For these reasons, experts do not advise using cold therapy pads while sleeping.

Pro-tip: If you’re worried about falling asleep while using a Breg cold therapy machine, hook it up to a timer, such as those used for decorative string lights.

Breg Polar Care Wave Cold Therapy System: FAQs

Is Breg Cold Compression Therapy Useful For Me?

Your Breg Polar Care Wave Cold Therapy System was prescribed to you for treatment following surgery or physical injury. That’s because cold therapy reduces swelling, edema, and pain in the problem areas–especially in combination with compression as offered by the Polar Wave Care unit. Use it to help you recover faster.

Is a Cold Therapy Unit Worth the Money?

Cold therapy has been proven to help control pain, diminish inflammation, and get the joints moving again. Numerous clinical studies show that patients get even more significant benefits when cold therapy is combined with compression.

A system like Polar Care Wave, which combines cold therapy with compression in one easy-to-use, portable unit, can speed up recovery time. Think of it as an investment in your journey back to good health.

Will My Insurance Cover a Cold Therapy Unit?

In most instances, insurance policies do not cover cold therapy and compression machines like Polar Care Wave. But it’s always worth checking with your insurance provider.

How Long Should I Use a Cold Therapy System For?

Before taking your Polar Care Wave or any cold therapy units home, ask your healthcare provider for detailed usage instructions. This includes how often and long to use it for, the level of pressure and water temperature, and how to inspect your skin for damage.

BREG POLAR CARE WAVE: PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Cold therapy with compression is a common part of recovery routines after surgery or sports injuries. Your care team can tell you how to use it.

Bregs cold therapy units regulate the flow of ice-cold water into a pad that a clinician or patient can apply to the treatment area. Sure, you could simply fill a rubber water bottle with ice, but that won’t provide the consistently chilled water you need to see long-lasting benefits.

The difference with an innovative machine like the Breg Polar Wave Care System lies in the combination of cold therapy and compression and the fact that it’s designed for home use. The addition of a compression pad gives you cold and compression together. Not only can this hospital-grade unit be used by healthcare professionals, but it can also be used by athletes in training situations and by patients at home.

So what's included in this product? Some crucial Breg Polar Care Wave product features to take note of include:

Cooler with tubing, lid, and air pump Cold-compression padPower supplySimple usage systemHandle for portability

The compressions pads that come with the unit offer multiple configurations to suit any body type or injury position.

The Breg Polar Care Wave Cold Therapy System is part of the third generation of cold compression system products that deliver cold therapy through anatomic wraps while also providing compression.

The Breg Polar Care Wave cold therapy system is a motorized cold therapy machine housed in a simple, quiet, and compact unit with various anatomic pads such as knee, hip, shoulder, ankle, universal, and back. The Breg Polar Care Wave cold therapy system combines motorized cold therapy with active compression in a simple and compact system, making it ideal for facility and home use. The Breg Polar Care Wave cold therapy system is easily transported from the hospital, physical therapy clinic, or athletic training room to the patient’s home, extending the benefits of cold and compression.

This is the highest-end cold therapy product on the market in its price category. A comparable system you should google is "Gameready" to best understand the value you are receiving with this cold therapy unit. Gameready is a great device and nearly 10x the cost. The Breg Polar Care Wave cold therapy system delivers a great value for the clinical benefit.

If you are a patient having bilateral total knee arthroplasty, consider a y-connector and a second knee pad so you can ice both knees at the same time.

The Breg Polar Care Wave Cold System is a cold and compression therapy system that circulates chilled water and compression air through an anatomic pad.

Warranty: Manufacturers warranty is 6 months on the cooler and pads.

Authentic Breg products are not sold on Amazon. Only authorized retailers can provide Breg Products.

Follow the manufacturer's instructions for use and your care team's guidance. The Wave can be used in hospitals, outpatient clinics, athletic training settings, or at home.

Cold Therapy Hygiene, Exchange & Warranty Summary

  • Final Sale on Opened Items: Because cold therapy products contact skin and post-surgical areas, every unit, pad, and wrap ships new in original sealed packaging. Once shipped, orders are final sale for refunds, and opened items cannot be returned, restocked, or exchanged.
  • Unopened Exchanges: Ordered the wrong pad size, joint wrap, or system? Unused items in the manufacturer's factory-sealed packaging (with the clear inner bag still sealed) may be exchanged—submit our Return & Exchange Form or call (704) 312-2575.
  • 6-Month Manufacturer's Limited Warranty: Defective items are covered solely under the 6-month manufacturer's limited warranty against defects in materials or workmanship, not a separate store warranty. If an issue comes up, submit our Warranty Claim Form or call (704) 312-2575 so our team can troubleshoot or coordinate your warranty replacement. See our full Refund Policy.

OrthoBracing.com is committed to providing each customer with the highest standard of customer care. Our return and exchange policy protects the hygiene and integrity of post-surgical products while giving clear guidelines for every order.

IMPORTANT

Individual results will vary when using cold therapy or orthopedic equipment. Please consult your healthcare provider before purchasing medical equipment or supplies. OrthoBracing.com does not provide a warranty or guarantee that any product will treat your condition or relieve your symptoms.

COLD THERAPY FINAL SALE, UNOPENED EXCHANGES & MANUFACTURER'S LIMITED WARRANTY

Because cold therapy products contact skin and post-surgical areas, we ship every item new in original sealed packaging and cannot accept returns of or restock opened items for hygiene and patient safety. Unopened cold therapy units, pads, and wraps in the manufacturer's factory-sealed packaging (with the clear inner bag still sealed) may be exchanged for ordering mistakes, and defective items are covered solely under the applicable manufacturer's limited warranty, not a separate store warranty.

  • Manufacturer's Limited Warranty (Branded Cold Therapy Items): OrthoBracing.com is an authorized retailer and not the manufacturer; warranty periods below are the manufacturers' limited warranty periods against defects in materials or workmanship:
    • Cold therapy cooler units (Breg Polar Care, DonJoy IceMan, Aircast Cryo Cuff): 6 months
    • Breg Polar Care pads, Aircast Cryo Cuff pads/cuffs & DonJoy DuraKold wraps: 6 months
    • DonJoy IceMan replacement wrap-on pads: 1 month
    • Game Ready GRPro 2.1 control units & ATX wrap internal heat exchangers: 1 year (outer sleeve factory defects: 7 days from delivery)
  • Loose-Packed Reusable Ice Bag Packs (OB4 / OB8): Ship loose-packed from bulk stock for use inside cold therapy coolers (with no inner retail seal or size variants); all sales are final once shipped (no returns or exchanges), with a 3-month replacement from our stock for seam or seal defects.
  • Sterile Barrier Dressings: Single-use post-surgical sterile barrier items are final sale once shipped (no returns or exchanges); unopened pouches damaged in transit are replaced if reported within 48 hours of delivery.

To start a cold therapy warranty claim, please submit our Warranty Claim Form or call (704) 312-2575. We reserve the right to limit multiple requests for warranty replacement on items damaged by misuse, abuse, or care that does not follow the manufacturer's instructions.

EXCHANGES FOR ORDERING MISTAKES

Orders placed by mistake (for example, left instead of right, medium instead of large, or a Breg Polar Care Cube pad instead of a Breg Kodiak pad) are eligible for exchange when unused and unopened in original sealed packaging (with the clear inner plastic bag still sealed on cold therapy pads and wraps; sterile barrier dressings and loose-packed reusable ice bags are excluded). There is no restocking fee on exchanges, though a return shipping fee applies if OrthoBracing.com provides a return shipping label. Please submit our Return & Exchange Form or email returns@orthobracing.com to obtain an authorization number (RA#) before shipping any item back, or call (704) 312-2575 with questions.

RETURNS ON ELIGIBLE ORTHOPEDIC BRACES (14 DAYS / 25% RESTOCKING FEE)

Eligible non-cold-therapy orthopedic braces may be returned within 14 days of delivery only if they are in NEW / UNUSED condition in their original, unopened manufacturer's packaging with all documentation and security labels/blue security tape 100% intact (not cut, removed, or tampered with). Opened packages do not qualify for a refund. If all conditions are met, a 25% restocking fee applies to all brace returns, with no exceptions.

Before shipping any return or exchange back, obtain an authorization number (RA#) by emailing returns@orthobracing.com or visiting your account return portal. Write the RA# on the packing slip inside a sturdy outer shipping box—do not write on or place shipping labels directly on manufacturer product boxes. OrthoBracing.com is not responsible for lost return packages; please email your tracking number if using your own carrier, or request an OrthoBracing return label (deducted from your refund).

Do not refuse delivery of your order; refunds are not issued for refused shipments.

LOST PACKAGE & CARRIER DELAY POLICY

Packages marked delivered by carrier tracking are not eligible for refunds. Please check with neighbors and other household members first, then open a trace/claim with the carrier (FedEx: 1-800-463-3339; UPS: 1-800-742-5877; USPS: your local post office). If the carrier confirms the package is lost, contact us with your case number so we can assist. FedEx and UPS do not issue shipping credits for weather or other uncontrollable events, so we cannot refund shipping charges for uncontrollable carrier delays.
